Holley EFI-Hilborn Dragster Wins Best Engineered

While the race is still to be decided on the track, we did walk away with some kudos -- our Holley EFI-Hilborn-DART dragster was named "Best Engineered" at this weekend's Lucas Oil NHRA Division 2 contest in Cecil, Ga.

Driver Trevor Wiggins was honored to accept the award from NHRA Division 2 Director Rich Schaefer.

2012 Season Off to Challenging Start -- Thanks to Mother Nature!

Our 2012 drag racing season got off to a challenging start -- mostly due to Mother Nature!

The NHRA Division 2 race in Gainesville, Fla., kicked off the 2012 season. We fared well through the first round, finishing up Saturday night around 9 p.m. (you'd think we were at a local bracket race!). Crazy storms came through overnight, only to leave behind 30+ mph winds.

NHRA finally decided to run the race -- shortened to 1/8th mile. Since we don't run much 1/8-mile, we were left at a disadvantage. And, unfortunately we went out round 2.

From Gainesville we went to Daytona Beach for Trevor's work during "Speed Weeks" before heading to Cecil, Ga., for the next NHRA Division 2 race...and more of Mother Nature's wrath.

Friday was a beautiful day, while Saturday was a complete wash for Super Comp. Rain started late in the morning and continued through the night.

Here it is Sunday...clear, cooler, and WINDY again. Another race shortened to 1/8th-mile. We'll see what the race holds for us...

Holley/Hilborn EFI Dragster to Display at 2011 PRI Show

(Canton, Ga., 11/28/2011) – In conjunction with Holley Performance Products and Hilborn Fuel Injection, Trevor Wiggins’ EFI Super Comp dragster will be featured at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show, Dec. 1-3 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.


Earlier this year, Wiggins created quite a buzz in drag racing when he converted his 602-Steve Schmidt engine to electronic fuel injection (EFI), thanks to support from Holley Performance Products and Hilborn Fuel Injection.


"It’s an honor to be a part of the PRI Show with Holley Performance Products and Hilborn Fuel Injection – two great companies synonymous with fuel injection,” Wiggins comments.


“This year we proved that EFI on a dragster is possible – it’s super consistent and easy to dial,” Wiggins adds. “Hopefully all our hard work will payoff by getting to the Winner’s Circle in 2012…EFI is the next level of drag racing.”

Look for Wiggins’ EFI silver dragster as part of the PRI Vehicle Display, located near the Media Center at the West Side of the convention center. In addition, be sure to stop by the Holley Performance Products Booth (#3769) and the Hilborn Fuel Injection Booth (#3912). Both booths will be located in the East Side of the Orange County Convention Center.

About Trevor Wiggins

Trevor Wiggins is well known throughout the automotive and racing industries, having been involved with both since a young age. He has raced shifter carts, Formula Ford, Formula Mazda and Toyota Atlantic, and participated in NTPA truck and tractor pulling before getting involved with NHRA Super Comp drag racing. In his second year drag racing, Wiggins was runner-up at the Division 2 Cecil, Ga. race, finishing the 2009 season ranked seventh in his home division and 40^th nationally. In 2010, Wiggins was runner-up in Super Comp at the NHRA 41^st Annual Gator Nationals. Despite changing his motor set-up mid-season, Wiggins finished the 2011 season ranked 11^th in NHRA Division 2.

V-V-P Pomona Wrap Up: Second Round Again!

The V-V-P trip was definitely an incredible adventure that we won't forget. Rich in NHRA history and located in sunny (most of the time) California, racing Pomona should be on every racer's "bucket list".


Like the two Vegas races, we clinched a round one victory over M. Henderson with a 8.991 and a .054 light -- certainly nothing to write home about. In round two, we lost to Cameron Ferre on a red light start, -0.008. To add to the pain, the car was super consistent, going 8.906 at 178.38 m.p.h. Just never thought we'd see red this weekend.


After a great trip, it's time to load up, head home, and get ready for Thanksgiving and the PRI Show.

V-V-P Las Vegas Divisional Race Wrap Up

While Trevor worked SEMA during the day, Jami and the kids explored Vegas...from the M&M Store and a walk down The Strip to a chocolate factory and a 115,000-gallon aquarium tank. The kids loved watching the hand feeding of the sting rays and sharks. On Halloween the family ventured down to Fremont Street with our friends Wayne and Debbie Bogle....thank goodness we had our neighborhood "Halloween" before we left on the trip!

After the week at SEMA it felt good to get back to the track and racing.

Thanks to help from Doug at Holley, we made some adjustments to the EFI that seem to be working.

The weather has been up and down, warm then chilly and windy.

Once again, we won round one with a 9.063 and a much better reaction time: .010. With the weather and track conditions deteriorating, we lost round two to Brock Green who went on to win the event (which concluded Monday due to weather). When the car came off the stop, it was sideways and squirrelly. The car just lost too much momentum to get down the track.

Now it's on the Pomona, a trip to the Santa Monica Pier and maybe even some fun at Disneyland...oh and let's not forget some racing, too!

V-V-P Racing Las Vegas National Event Wrap Up

We finally made it to Las Vegas on Tuesday night and it was so windy!

Parking and tech on Wednesday with time trials on Thursday.

It was a smart move converting to a Holley EFI/Hilborn set-up earlier this year, but we have had some struggles getting all the components to work in harmony. Each track poses new challenges, but with each race we are getting smarter and closer to where we want to be.

On the 9.05 index, Trevor won first round off a red light before losing round two. The car went dead on 9.053, but we had a .035 light.

We'll spend the week at SEMA before next weekend's Las Vegas divisional race.
